Did Grosse Pointe house numbers changes after 1930?

My grandparents lived at 161 Merriweather Road in 1930 and I would like to know if the house is still standing today and if the number is the same.

Grosse Pointe Farms adopted an ordinance requiring renumbering of homes and businesses in 1939. The ordinance took effect January 15, 1940. See articles about it here:

First if the house was built in the 20's or 30's on Merriweather there is a 99.9% chance its "still" standing.
You need to add approximately 62 to the pre-1940 address give or take a couple numbers. Most likely your grandparents house is located at 225 Merriweather, the house was built in 1928. 221 Merriweather was built in 1935. You can try the Grosse Pointe Historical Society 313-884-7010, sometimes in the real estate records in the archives the pre-1940 address is listed on old broadcasts.

I've had some success tracking historic address changes by hunting down old phone books in libraries.

Comparing phone books from different years, it appeared that every single family name suddenly moved to a different address on the same street. Doh! That would never happen.

Then a light bulb popped on over my head when I realized they must have renumbered all the addresses instead.
