How much of the development talk is new? How much old?

The Third and Grand project has already been announced and it was reported that the Kahn Building will likely become residential while the Fisher will remain office. They have also touched on Brightmoor but I am curious to see what will be announced regarding Midtown and Techtown. The music venue is also intriguing, im wondering if it is something new or part of the Paradise Valley plan.

Mr. Cummings interest in redevelopment in Brightmoor is honorable and fascinating to see what will happen. It's always easier to pick the low hanging fruit. His understanding that the inclusion of out lying neighborhoods is also necessary to a thriving city makes him and his family's vision truely unique. Hopefully more developers will share his view in the near future.

Here is another development that Mr. Cummings has finalized. It sure is getting much easier to see the difference between the developers that build and the ones that propose for a someday years down the road.

I don't recall hearing about this before, but I found a Sept 2015 article about the 6001 Cass building. It has a great shot of the building. As with most Kahn buildings, its quite striking. I couldn't seem to get the link to work, but here is the title of the article:
"Albert Kahn-designed building at Cass and York to be redeveloped into residential - and something unique"

This quote from the Freep article reveals that the city dodged a bullet from an ill-advised proposal in the 1990's - thankfully!

It has been vacant for years and is occasionally used by Detroit police for training courses. Plans in the early 1990s to replace the building with new student housing never panned out.

Renovation and new construction across the street. Awesome, keep filling gaps.
