Why don't the Canadians lay off of the poor guy, eh? What, do they think he's made of money?

Well, they do have to figure out how to pay for the new bridge,it makes it easier if there is no competition.

I am really torn on what would be the "best" way for all of this to play out.

To me, and as mentioned by many others, the best solution is to have two bridges in Detroit/Windsor for redundancy. The question is how to get there...

Eventually, [[I hope) the new Gordie Howe public span will get built, which provides two bridges in the interim. The challenge is, the Ambassador Bridge has not been maintained well, and will probably need replacement in the not too distant future. Once the Gordie Howe bridge opens, I don't know if a new Ambassador Bridge would be profitable to build.

So in some ways I hope the Ambassador twin and the Gordie Howe get constructed together at the same time, so both bridges get built.
