    Default Foundation Hotel Revving Up

Looks like the Foundation Hotel is finally gaining some momentum. The COBO-area boutique hotel has posted jobs for their "pre-opening team," including controller, director of human resources, and general manager:

The posting also states that the hotel will include a rooftop ballroom, and a "podcast studio" as an amenity... pretty cool.

Not to derail the thread but I have a question: Why do so many people who post on this site refer to Cobo Hall as COBO? In other words why do so many people capitalize each letter in the name Cobo. It is not an acronym. It is the name of a former mayor of Detroit.

    Maybe because of this:

Or maybe there is more to the story.

Perhaps it's also because that's the style they use at the top of their webpage. It hasn't been officially called Cobo Hall in years.

Foundation Hotel is also launching a new restaurant.

The Apparatus Room Debuts in Downtown Detroit on May 15

The Apparatus Room is the Foundation’s flagship restaurant and will occupy approximately 4,600-square-feet of space on the ground floor of the building that was originally designed to house fire engines. Chef Thomas Lents, a Michigan native, is overseeing the hotel’s food and beverage program including the 106-seat Apparatus Room; a 10-seat, prix fixe Chef’s Table and culinary talent incubator; catering and events; and the in-room dining program.
