Default New York Times: In Detroit, A Mail Boat Stays Afloat

One of the many things that makes Detroit such a cool city -- a floating post office. When I was 12, I played hockey with the member of the family now running the company. Great article in Sunday's New York Times:
    A Mail Boat Stays Afloat

Not long after I moved downtown many years ago, I dropped in on the Westcott's HQ and had a chance to visit with Jim Sr. I bought a nautical chart to put on my wall of the Detroit River area. It's worth stopping by just for fun or to get a unique gift. They're at the foot of W Grand Blvd.

Maybe, while you're there, you'll get to see them in action. It's really crazy to see how they sidle right up to 1000 foot freighters and see the mail pail get hoisted up with their deliveries.
