    Default Cooley High School

Does anyone know if Cooley High is being renovated or salvaged by some group. I graduated from there in 1961. What a great old school! I'd love to roam the halls one more time just to bring back memories. I also went to Cerveny Elementary on the corner of Puritan and Strathmoor. Any Cooley alumni out there?

My dad graduated from Cooley, and I think it was 1961...or close to it. His name is Craig Grant. Do you know him?

I was at Cerveny and the grade school. Can't remember now if it was named Strathmoore or Stratford.

Was supposed to go to Cooley, but it had sunk to horrible lows and I ended up at St. Marys.

There was some talk a little less than two years ago of a couple who talked of making Cooley in to some sort of community based art-space, and they may have actually purchased the building. I have heard nothing of it since. I noticed a breach in the rear of the building [[closer to the park on Chalfonte) last Thanksgiving.

I don't remember Craig Grant, but I do remember Bill Grant. I eventually went to Ferris Institute in Big Rapids, Michigan, and Bill was my room mate!

Hope they can salvage Cooley High. Architecturally speaking, I've always thought, Cooley was the most beautiful high school in Detroit.

^^I sent a note to the website above and suggested that they might want to update the members of this forum on what they were doing. This is the message I got back:

Cooley Reuse Project is the name of our initiative, and we have a few places to find out more information and keep up with our progress.

Most importantly, please share our Green-Up and Clean-Up Volunteer Day at Cooley for this year's Neighborhoods Day onSaturday, August 6th from 12 - 4 pm. I've attached a flyer for you to share with others:

We have a few websites to view:

CooleyHSDetroitProposal.JimDo.com -- far more detailed information
    CooleyHSDetroit.JimDo.com -- general interest information

    Also, we are on Facebook:
