Detroit is making more of their data available to the public. Some of the data is being updated daily, others multiple times per day.

Welcome to the first newsletter with highlights about the Open Data [[GO DATA) initiative at the City of Detroit. Please feel free to share and forward freely:

Departmental Progress:
17 of 39 departments, agencies, and authorities have 81 datasets on data.detroitmi.gov, out of 168 public datasets identified in the dataset inventory. The oldest dataset is from 2014 whereas several datasets are being updated every 3 hours. 15 departments, agencies, and authorities have designated Data Liaisons to work towards getting their data online.

New Developments: good work to the data liaisons and leaders who made this happen!

Open Data Driving Progress
Goran Bankovic, Tyler Tinsey, and Brian Farkas [[employees in DoIT and DBA) and Matt Hampel from LocalData worked together to automate the current numbers of demolished homes on the City Demolition page based on the demolition numbers at data.detroitmi.gov. This saves staff time for reporting and provides the public the most up-to-date numbers daily. Good work team!
