Thread: Jack in the Box

    Default Jack in the Box

Very sad when they left town, one of the only FF joints open late night to feed the "last call" crowd.

Did you have one in your neighborhood, if so, where???

There were two in Southgate. The one at Fort and Pennsylvania just became Checker's after serving as other businesses and the one at Allen and Goddard is currently JOA Sushi.

For those of you who still miss JITB, the Qdoba chain who has an outpost out by Southland and has been advertising heavily on billboards, buses and television is owned by JITB.

14 Mile & John R. in the 70s — best late-night kangaroo meat on this planet [[versus those inferior planets).

If memory serves me right, I believe there was one on the West side of Mack, South of Vernier in Grosse Pointe Woods. It did not last very long.

There was one at 13 & Woodward, across from Beaumont.

There was one on 13 Mile Road at Utica Road in Roseville. They had the BEST breakfast sandwich! Made with a soft hamburger type bun instead of a biscuit or muffin. I used to stop there several mornings a week on my way to work.

Wasn't there another JITB in Taylor on Eureka at I-75 in front of the now-demolished "The Plaza" which was torn down for a bank that's now a Sprint store?

The site is not far from the Southland Qdoba-the connection being JITB owns Qdoba.

Other than a handful of stores in the Dallas area, JITB is now pretty much concentrated in Southern California and bordering Arizona and Nevada areas. They used to be nationwide.

Love it. Always a tough choice between the burger or tacos. Its always my second stop when I hit the west coast after In n Out Burger.

Out in the northern burbs there was one on Orchard Lk Rd a little south of 12 Mile that I remember quickly closed in the late 70s after a kid died from eating an e-coli tainted burger at JITB in California. I don't know if these 2 events were related, but as I remember it was one of the last ones around metro Detroit that I remember seeing.

Not sure. I didn't hang around Taylor much until I started dating my wife; JITBs were gone by then.

I think there is always a chance of a comeback given the right conditions. I would change the image to reflect 2016 a bit more though.

How about they call it "Jack Outside the Box' ?

Come to think of it, why not put one in the new Casino in Greektown, whose name seems to escape me...

I'm jazzed about a new Leo's Coney Island just steps from my apartment.
I hope the teens are up to the work load and don't spend all their time on text messages.

    Remember work load's?

That has been lost for the past 50 years. I can remember K-mart employees telling me nothing was available in back. Not on the shelf and not in back. If you have to ask for it, it's not there. Fuck you and die. And it did.

I don't think anyone should lose sleep over not having a Jack's location convenient to them. They are all over the place here in Austin, and I only go to them because they are always sending out coupons for buy one get one free burgers. And they are still empty with customers - I don't know how they stay in business anywhere.
