Default Hospital Error Almost Guts Girl Who Was Shooting Victim

As if the story about this guy's rampage in K-zoo wasn't bad enough, this story also disturbs me deeply. http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/detroit/2016/02/23/abigail-kopf-kalamazoo-shooting/80790820/ How close she almost didn't survive that, as well. Also, these storieshttp://www.lifenews.com/2016/02/23/b...st-her-organs/ andhttp://www.fox29.com/news/95844429-story.

I'm still praying she continues to pull through.

Wonder how often this happens and is not rectified in time? Doctors are as fallible as the rest of us. To err is human. It's difficult to ask for a second opinion if you happen to be comatose.

Why exactly? The girl is still alive and it's probably due to the actions of these doctors. Lawsuits like that are a big part of the reason that our healthcare costs are the highest in the world.

So according to all the news sources I've found, such as this:

    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/kalamazo...lled-survivor/

They never even prepped her for organ donation. The doctors thought she wouldn't make it so told the family to be ready, which they were. But nothing actually happened.

I'm not sure what the point of this story is.

Yes, I am aware of spurious litigations as well as the necessary ones. I was being *sarcastic*

Well, half the news sources [[yes, sigh-including Fox). said she was "prepped", as if there were a very strong ghoulish anticipation for this. I understand there isn't much one can expect once one is officially dead, but one would assume that if the body is in a unsure/brain dead state, a little time would be given to see something like this sway the matter. I think they were hasty in putting the black flag on her-so to speak. if that had been the case, cause of death in the long run would've been the doctors. She has, in a sense, cheated death twice.

Why is it only the most conservative sources seem to hit upon this?-to make drama? Why are we engineered in a society to say that if one has left-leaning politics one must have a ghoulish utilitarian attitude in these matters and ignore when the spark of life persists? It's one thing for those overly-obsessed with "quality of life over quantity" [["oh, she can't grow up and party at the club like the rest of us, so her life isn't worth a spit. If it were me, pull the damn plug." Hate to say that's the way a lot of young internet commentators view things. I know I once did.) to internalize the matter and say "yeah, why prolong suffering?" In that case I agree. However, you do have those clinical utilitarian attitudes [[be they conservative or liberal) who say "get what you can from the body" and reduce the strain on budget and population by not keeping this one alive.

In the case of Schiavo, she agreed to die, and conservatives just wanted a big, ineffectual noise complete with martyr to "take back America" with-otherwise the word "hunger strike" [[the way Gandhi, Cesar Chavez, or Bobby Sand's causes would've gained impact) would've really changed the matter [[yet, that is asking a small population of Evangelical Americans to make the ultimate sacrifice in a consumerist sense, and that would be committing the ultimate "sacrilege".).

The fact that there was talk of organ-doning and signing such releases, is proof the family had been mislead to think their daughter was brain-dead. This all within a short time span after the shooting. Even if thought of "brain-dead", they could've waited much more for any indications before heading in any other direction. It all has tiny hints of those two teens being switched after that church youth group van crash here in Michigan and telling one family the daughter was dead and the other that the daughter was alive [[but a roommate knew better).

also, it bothers me that the media is ignoring a lot of things about this cop-wannabe gun-nut and the first person he attacked. http://www.freep.com/story/news/loca...ids/80797422/#She was black and she was protecting her kids. She will survive, and that is news. Nobody talks about this, and my son had to search to find this. He also told me how the grandmother has some ugly Old Testament way of wishing the guy dead.

The first shooting was covered by the news outlets I was checking. I would assume that it received less coverage because the woman was fortunate enough to survive, not because she was black.

Thank God in heaven the little girl is doing much better. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/...covery-n550611
Also, the first victim [[who "happened" to be black) is showing much strength in forgiving this guy.http://www.freep.com/story/news/loca...hers/83043798/

With tragedies like this, this is a glimmering hope that comes from a turnaround that is a.) rare, b.) affects me deeply, and c.) shows me a miracle that transcends typical human nature, here [[now if we can only put an end to these revenge killings against feuding folk's family members and kids....).
