Default Lights on at Michigan Central Depot

The owners of the Michigan Central Depot have been making cosmetic exterior improvements to their long-criticized blighted landmark. A year-long effort has placed new windows in all its upper floors.

Last night, as I drove past, I noticed electricity has been restored to the upper floors and in a dramatic display the upper floors were illuminated. Is this it? Or is something happening on the inside too?

Manny the shitbag hoping for some positive press during the autoshow. I'm willing to bet nothing more

New Quicken Loans international headquarters campus. Will also incorporate the old Detroit School Book Building and surrounding area for development. Will rival Google campus.

X2 on Auto Show eye candy. On a related note I actually seen Manny driving down 9 Mile in Saint Clair Shores last week, couple year old silver S Class Mercedes.

Regardless of the motivation, nice to see windows in and lights on. Its not nearly the "ruin porn" destination that it recently was.

The lights have been on for awhile - over the Holidays and before. But I'd bet it's all for looks, doubt that anything is going on inside.

"very nice", but it needs to be sold to someone who has a deliberate redevelopment plan.

Well, seeing that it's in Corktown and only half a mile from a 4 bed, 6,000 sq ft converted former appliance factory loft condo listed for $1.4m at 1535 6th Street #5 [[ http://www.trulia.com/property/32179...troit-MI-48226 ), I'm surprised he doesn't have a sign up for pre-condo sales or something. Maybe he's lost his mind for business with his tunnel vision over the bridge. The lights are on, but nobody's home. The train station is a fitting metaphor for Matty.

I first noticed it a few days before Christmas. I normally take Davison Freeway to the Lodge to get into town, but because traffic was so light during those two weeks, I took 75 all the way to the Lodge. I work at 7am, so it is dark, and you can see it really well from the ramp going from SB 75 to SB Lodge.

The person who lost their mind is the one who listed a shitty loft space in Detroit for $1.4mm. They'd be lucky to get $400k for it.

Now that would be pretty damn cool. However, I don't think Dan Gilbert likes the "campus" style of development.

Hold up. Are you Dan Stamper? Are you one of Darth's trusted lieutenants? How would you know this before a leak from the Free Press or other commercial media source??

I'm only surprised that it took this long. Duggan pushed getting lights on. He's probably pushing for a real solution [[meaning sale). Surprised? I'd be surprised if it weren't happening.

How could Duggan push for a sale? The deal was a land swap, $3m, and windows in the train station. There was nothing in the deal about Moroun selling it. Duggan already gave up his leverage and has more pressing concerns jumpstarting development in downtown. How do you know something the public doesn't?

Is that for real, or just a "I heard from so and so"?

It wouldn't surprise me. He just bought some more property in Corktown and don't forget the new Quicken Loans Tech Center is there as well.

Problem is that Quicken loans is a only a loan company and Google is producing world-changing technology.
