Default Canadian Retail Prices suddenly much lower than U.S. .... [[for now)

As a result of the plunging Canadian dollar [[having fallen from as much as $1.10 US to less than .71c US over the last 3-4 years; Canadians are suddenly, if temporarily benefiting from many price breaks [[when adjusted for currency).

The following article from CBC highlights a few items.

Of course, most Canadians, unless they have sizable investments in $US won't really feel the difference, except to curtail some cross-border travel and shopping.

But many Americans can now enjoy some rather good bargains on this side of the border.

Question, any out of the ordinary restrictions, hoops to jump through, considerations to purchasing these goods online and shipped below the Border.

Speaking of below the border. What country lies due south of Detroit? Easy peasy for our D Yes compadres.

Funny. Here in Quebec, there used to be a Big duty free shop on the Canadian side of a border crossing called "South of the Border" complete with Mexican sombreros and fake Palm trees.

Retailers in Canada will adjust their prices -- but it is delayed . It'll show up first in spoilables, like food. Things like computers and electronics will lag, as the retailers get hit with increases from the manufacturers. So if you're gonna buy something over there, you'll want to move fast.

Canada has become the cheapest place in the world to buy Apple products.

Base level iMac at US online Apple Store: $1099
Same model at Canadian Apple Store: C$1399 [[US $993 at today's FX rate)

I wonder how long this will last.
