The article doesn't say trying to pointless -- it just discusses the difficulties.

Measuring response time is important -- its just not easy. And the information you get out isn't going to be precise -- but it has value nonetheless.

Like any other testing or statistics, use appropriately.

In general, politicians, journalists, and others lob stats back and forth. But my study says... Use stats -- but don't let them be the only voice.
