GM to Add 1,200 New Jobs and 2nd Shift at Detroit-Hamtramck

Most of these will be assembly line jobs, but 40 salaried jobs are also included. There's even discussion of possibly adding a 3rd shift [[depending on how successful the 2 new vehicles to be built at the plant end up being).

Great news for the city and those looking for work!

GM announced that one of them will be the Cadillac CT6.

They haven't officially revealed what the 2nd vehicle will be, but insiders have hinted that it's going to be the Buick LaCrosse.

The shift addition will increase the plant’s workforce to about 2,800 people. The second shift is necessary to meet expected demand for the five cars produced at the plant now: the Chevrolet Volt, Impala and Malibu, Cadillac ELR and the upcoming Cadillac CT6.
