Default Feds investigating Detroit schools corruption

A grand jury probe of the Education Achievement Authority began more than 16 months ago and is focused on money paid to companies for apparel, sports equipment and other items as well as top officials, documents show.

Subpoenas released today also show investigators seeking records related to former chancellor John Covington, former chief of staff Tyrone Winfrey and a handful of former principals including Kenyetta “KC” Wilbourne, who told the Free Press last week that she cut a deal to plead guilty to bribery and tax evasion as part of the FBI probe of kickbacks.
None of the individuals named in the documents has been charged with a crime.

Covington, who was the chancellor when the EAA opened in 2012, told the Free Press today he has not been contacted by the FBI. He abruptly resigned in June 2014 after critics raised questions about academic achievement as well as district spending.
Do these people not read the news? You think after the whole Kwame and pals some people would have second thoughts of the idea putting their hands in the till.

That has been under investigation for awhile,I can do it and get away with it because I am smarter then everybody else.

The sadistic part is these are people that are entrusted to provide a proper education to our children and they are basically screwing them without a thought, and making the educators that are honorable also pay the price.

Build a town square and provide crates of rocks.

we'll see what happens. Aside from whatever administrative revamps that will likely take place under Snyder/State legislature/Duggan, there also needs to be an academic curriculum re-visioning of how to steward K - 12 education and to incorporate the base skills necessary for the career paths that are viable in the 21st century.

The feds have been "investing" in corruption for years.
