BEIRUT, Lebanon — In a second day of raids in Syria, Russian warplanes carried out a new round of airstrikes on Thursday that once again — contrary to Moscow’s assertions — appeared for the most part to be targeting not the Islamic State but a rival insurgent coalition.

However, anti-government activists, including the opposition news agency Khoutwah, or Step, reported Thursday night that what they believed to be Russian jets had struck the Islamic State-held town of Al Shedadi in Hasaka province, in Syria’s northeast. If confirmed, it would be the first Russian strike in undisputed Islamic State territory. The area is hundreds of miles from the sites of previous Russian strikes.

Russians claim they have destroyed an IS command center and a couple of ammunition dumps with bunker buster bombs. This sounds like a defeat for Obama's ongoing attempt to supply "rebels" and topple Assad.

They won't get anywhere. We've been bombing ISIS [[I'm told by the media) for months and they get stronger [[mind you they've also told me we have 5% unemployment and that the Bank Rate's going up) - especially now they have the armaments we gave to the nice rebels. At least the Russians are equal opportunity bombers and are bombing the nice rebels, the nearly naughty rebels and the really really naughty rebels. We want to bomb Assad but he's got a red line round him that somebody drew on the sand. Guess the only aspect they all have in common is they're not moderate muslims, who you can tell if you can find them [[because they're in Europe) and they're nice and won't hear a bad word said against Assad, the nice, the nearly naughty or the really really naughty rebels. They would prefer to invade Europe and America. You would think they'd go to Africa which is much nearer but they prefer places that don't want them but pay them for coming.
