Default Where did Dr. Ben Carson live in Detroit?

    T. Burton wrote the marvelous book, Home in Detroit, about the childhood homes of many famous people who were born or lived in Detroit. Ben Carson was not included. Dr. Carson graduated from Southwestern High School before he matriculated at Yale. Does anyone know where he lived while he grew up here in Detroit? Detroit has something of a history with Republican candidates for president. Grant and the first Bush lived in or near the city. The last Republican nominee was from Palmer Woods and Tom Dewey grew up nearby. But it is difficult to imagine that the Republicans will nominate Dr. Carson in 2016.

I wish he stood a chance, I really like him, I have listen to him many times now and feel he is one of the most brilliant men to ever run for president in my lifetime[[50)

Or doesn't believe in evolution. Yikes, I may trust Ben Carson with my life but I would never trust him leading the free world.

And when did George HW live in/near Detroit? Had no idea about that one...

A great example of how technical knowledge in a specific area does not at all translate into other areas. I feel sorry for serious Republicans who have to be embarrassed by these "candidates" every election.

And why does Detroit get stuck with these people? The Kid Rocks, the Insane Clown Posses...

Yeah. Good trivia question. From Wikipedia:
George Bush married Barbara Pierce on January 6, 1945, only weeks after his return from the Pacific. The couple's first residence was a small rented apartment in Trenton, Michigan, near Bush's Navy assignment at NAS Grosse Ile.

I got a robo call from Dr. Carson today. He said the campaign was going well. I hung up and missed the rest.

According to his autobiography his family owned a small house on Deacon St., which is in the "dogleg" neighborhood on the far southwest side. They apparently rented this house out at times, and shuttled back and forth for a while to his mother's family in Boston. And they also apparently lived at one time in a Detroit housing project that is described as being "near downtown" and "just blocks" from where Ben Carson High School is now. So, probably Brewster-Douglass?

He says he went to Higgins Elementary, Wilson Junior High, and Hunter Junior High, which were all on the southwest side. And he graduated from Southwestern High.

A CNN article showed a photo of his house, so apparently he grew up at 1860 S. Deacon. Seems like that neighborhood is still pretty nice today.

Funny how things change, he's up there with Trump now. Not sure if he will last though.

Looks like a twin to the house in the Grand River / Greenfield area I spent my teenage years in. To think, I could have had allusions I would be president one day, too.

BTW, I wouldn't trust him to write my biography [[not that I need one written).

seems CNN has discovered that he wasn't offered a scholarship to West Point as per his auto.

The CNN article casts doubt on Carson's story that he stabbed someone...

But nine friends, classmates and neighbors who grew up with Carson told CNN they have no memory of the anger or violence the candidate has described.
Thursday, Carson admitted that the names he used to identify people he says he stabbed are fictitious.

Now comes the revelation from POLITICO that he wasn't offered admittance and a full ride at West Point by General William Westmoreland.

I've never thought that he was actually running for president, but believe he's a grifter trying to increase the marketability of his books and speaking engagements. Sort of like that half-term ex-governor of Alaska, who clearly prefers self-promotion to the tedious job of governing.

What!? He lied about stabbing someone? Now I know I can't trust him!
