Kercheval east of St. Jean

When driving home at night, I constantly see people turning left on Kercheval from St. Jean into what is then a 1 way westbound street [[Kercheval) from St. Jean back to the Lycaste and the Chrysler plant. I presume its because they don't want to go all the way down to Jefferson, turn left on Jefferson, head east to Lycaste and then turn left again back up to the plant.

I know they want to save time, but turning into and driving the wrong way on a one-way street doesn't seem to be the safest thing to do.
