I believe if you own all the land with frontage on the street, you can petition the City for closure, which would not be unreasonably denied.

Perhaps they have applied.

My question, not knowing the streets... why does this matter? Is this unreasonable? Does this street provide service to other residents that can't reasonably be served by other streets? Maybe it even makes the neighborhood even better -- reduces unnecessary traffice for some neighbors. And of course it does eliminate the city's burden of repair and liability.

I thought the idea of 'downsizing' the City was generally accepted. If no harm here, and if done in concert with city officials, what's the problem.

Elsewhere in this forum, its been stated that City Officials are representatives of the city and can bind citizens to pay for pensions for people who have moved away. Why can't Officials do something as routine as a street closure?

Yes I did, did you? Around 1:09, the street bobble-head says Faygo claims to have gotten permission from the last City Council to close off the street. Seems to me The Faux Too investigative Reporters should maybe do a little more investigating?

Moran is a pretty major street. Maybe DDOT could change the bus stop so people don't have to walk all the way around the buildings when they used to just be able to cut straight down the street.

Moran is really the only street off of Gratiot that gets you to the streets behind and to the north of the Faygo plant. Elmwood is the next north-south street but it's a one way heading north, and you have to enter it from Mack, which is awkward if Moran got you straight to Gratiot either walking or driving. Other than the interference that cars and pedestrians create when Faygo trucks are trying to back up into the loading docks, not sure what other reason exists to cut the street off to the public.
