Default Interesting Rumor For A Soccer Stadium On The Riverfront

Now I wonder where it would go? Could we see a stadium on a portion of the Uniroyal Site? I'd imagine it'd be on the east riverfront somewhere, as I believe that the city has a lot of land ownership on that side from the failed casino construction there. Maybe if Hart Plaza becomes the "new" Chene Park they would bulldoze it and make way for the stadium there? Kinda exciting news.

    Two questions:

1). Would a donation of city land bring up big questions of cronyism? [[Dugan the Mayor and, another Dugan, the owner of a team using that stadium).

2). Are the amenities there? Places to drink, eat, etc. before the game? Reading articles on Detroit FC, fans don't go there like they are going to an opera. They want to party before the game...

I assume that a Midtown location would be conducive to more places to eat, drink, etc. Might sound crazy but would Cass Park get overrun by fans partying before the game.

Maybe one of our Detroit FC posters can amplify.

I would love to see MLS in Detroit one day. But it doesn't change my opinion that putting a new soccer venue on riverfront property seems really dumb.
