I too cycled over the Ambassador on a ten speed racer bicycle decades ago. And now I'm rendered to the red goofy three-speed MOGO rental biks just peddling about WSU campus.

Still good exercise nonetheless I guess! ----

Why One Empty Bridge Wrecked Trade Between The US And Canada
Most people outside of Metro Detroit weren't aware of the Ambassador Bridge before it was blockaded. But its temporary closure showed why it was so significant, because of the disruption it caused to US - Canada trade. Still there were plenty of questions floating around even after the bridge reopened. So I wanted to make a video explaining the logistics that make this bridge important and why trade goes through this area.

I highly recommend the Gordie Howe Bridge construction videos being posted by DetroitYES member MichaelAnthonyVideos via his YouTube channel to which I subscribe. His drone photography is the best as seen is this recently release piece.

He also has some great pieces on the Packard Plant and Hannon YMCA demolitions.

Nothing less than heroic what ironworkers do. Good old union work too. None of that "right to work BS”. Laffs. Spite bridge according to some, not me.

    Shoot the puck, Gordie!!!

Gordie Howe International Bridge Update | Steel Braces Connected
The construction of the Gordie Howe International Bridge is a major infrastructure project spanning both the United States and Canada. The bridge is named after Gordie Howe, a Canadian ice hockey player who was one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.

The project involves a significant workforce, including engineers, construction workers, project managers, environmental specialists, and various other professionals. These workers come from both sides of the border and collaborate to ensure the successful completion of the bridge.

But was there a static electricity spark when the two halves touched? Inquiring minds want to know.

They installed the connecting girders before sunrise so no one could get any drone footage.

Awesome drone videos MichaelAnthonyVideos! What a great moment for our Detroit-Windsor international metropolis. And all this on the heels of two other momentous event--the opening of the restored Michigan Central Depot and the Hudson's Site Building topping out.

Just think, people in the far future will stare in awe at your videos much in as we have done with similar moments in the creation of the Ambassador Bridge.

    Detroit Rises!

In a historic step in the completion of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, the two sides of the bridge were finally connected on Friday, with workers from both countries meeting in the middle.
    Needs more fireworks.

Nice shot from the Bridge authority with downtown beyond and Ambassador Bridge. [Did I just hear Manny Moroun roll over? ;-)]

What's the projected lifespan of the Ambassador? Will it ever have to be demolished?

From 2019: As the Ambassador Bridge turns 90 — where is the replacement span?
The Ambassador Bridge has connected Canada and the United States for 90 years — and current construction work will extend the lifespan for another 75 years, according to the company which owns and operates the crossing.

That's a long time for a bridge the Canadian government wants demolished five years after the company builds its approved replacement span....

Yeah, Matty is about to get the last laugh.

The company he left behind will have a $6.5 Billion advantage over the Canadian bridge. They'll be able to severely undercut the Canadian bridge's pricing.

Trucking isn't nearly as profitable as it used to be. Truckers operate on very thin margins. Any truck that can will be taking the Ambassador.

^ That was my point all along about the mega $ billion Gordie Howe Bridge... the tolls will have to repay the Canadian government.

I also think that the new bridge will take business away from the Ambassador Bridge, but the latter has a pricing advantage in not having to repay the bridge costs... so it would come as no surprise to me if the Ambassador Bridge does better than anticipated.

For as much as the Windsor govt. wants to shut down the Ambassador Bridge, I'm not sure that they can?

Thank you Lowell but they are too bitter to ever do that.
