The Pictorial Magazine replaced the Rotogravure [[my maternal grandmother always called the Pictorial the Rotogravure). My grandfather worked for the Detroit News selling advertisements for the Rotogravure.

Curious - was the Rotogravure actually a weekly magazine like the Pictorial or just a photo section?

Pretty much just a photo section. The word, Rotogravure, comes from the type of printing that was used.

Ray, according to my grandmother it was a Sunday insert just like Pictorial or This Week. The printing used a brown colored ink rather than the more common black ink.
