    Default Lincoln Highway tour

The Lincoln Highway never went through Michigan at all of course but it's a good starting point for this years tour. This is something I've always dreamed of doing, if only I had the time...and a classic car...and the money! The annual conference will be in Ann Arbor June 22-26 and the tour will leave from the Packard Proving Grounds June 27. Here are a few relevant links:

In 1913, Henry B. Joy was the first President of the Lincoln Highway Association, a group dedicated to building a concrete road from New York to San Francisco. The 2015 Lincoln Highway Assoc. - Henry B. Joy Tour will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Henry B. Joy’s tour from Detroit to the 1915 Panama–Pacific Exhibition in San Francisco.

The LHA is renting the Packard Proving Grounds for a Welcome Dinner on Friday, June 26 and the start of the cross country tour on Saturday morning, June 27. Only LHA participants and their specific guests will be allowed inside the gates of PPG for those two events.

However, if you want to see the 65 cars heading off on the tour, then you are welcome to come out and view the departure from the front lawn of the PPG. This should be fun.

Here are just some the cars you can expect to see: https://www.lincolnhighwayassoc.org/tour/2015/cars/

$695 per car is a little steep, but it's all on public roads so anyone can drive the route, or part of it. They'd probably look down their noses at my plain antique sedan anyway...

From the pictures on the web it looks like the Woodward cruise. A few classics and a bunch od daily drivers.

Yes, the cars are an eclectic mix. Remember this is a Lincoln HIGHWAY event, not necessarily a car event.

The first week is a convention in Ann Arbor to study the Lincoln Hwy. documents stored at U of M. The HQ of the Lincoln Highway in 1915 was in the Dime Building.

The second week is the driving tour and some of those folks are highway history buffs and are using their "daily drivers".
