Default Never-Before Seen Photos of the Lincoln Park Shopping Center

For those of you that fondly remember the Lincoln Park Shopping Center, we finally have an inside look on what the deteriorating strip complex looks like today.

Nicholas Eckhart of Dead and Dying Retail came to Metro Detroit earlier this year and shot interior and exterior photos of every storefront in the LPSC. It's pretty creepy to see how bad the LPSC has become now, compared to it's glory days.

Below is a sampling of these.

The interior of the Star Theater, which closed in 2003.

    The old Harmony House.

The exterior of the former Farmer Jack.

When I was a young Honky Tonk, my parents would drive there from Delray to shop. Retail became scarcer and scarcer in our neck of the woods. Sears and Arlans were then the premier anchors. I haven't been back in years. The photos are shocking.

The Funco Land was where I bought a Nintendo 64. I also remember attending the Sears driving school which was on the top floor. That area was quite vibrant back then, it's sad to see what it has become.

I remember when I lived in Lincoln Park less than 20 years ago. This place was totally filled with retail, not a single vacant spot. Not just Sears, but other name retailers Winklemans, Hallmark Cards, Old Navy, F & M, Harmony House, President Tuxedo, K-B Toys, etc. It was as jammed packed as 12 Oaks the week before Christmas in the 90s. My husband did all his shopping there. I know many of the businesses there had troubles in the last decade, but I also think the Fairlane Green aka "the Hill" helped kill this place off.
