    Default RIP Dave Bergman

It has been reported that former Tiger Dave Bergman has passed away at age 61. Several years ago my girlfriend met him while on the job. He was doing sales work and came into her office. She's not a huge baseball fan but she knew who he was! She even got his autograph for me, said he was a super-nice guy.

We're starting to lose players from the '84 team as well as 68. Very sad. Bergman was a solid, reliable defensive 1st baseman and pinch hitter and yet in today`s game with these crazy 12 man pitching staffs he probably would not have a career, let alone for 9 years. They should expand the rosters by one or two so we can have the Gates Browns and Dave Bergmans around to provide quality pinch hitters and role players. These guys often turn out to be fan favorites.

So sad...he was too young!!! I know that Dave was one of many legendary Tigers that gave back to the community. He surely will be missed.

Just watched the video of his most famous At Bat....the one that Sparky called the Greatest At Bat Ever!! We were there at that game against Toronto and have always remembered that moment.

    RIP, Bergie!!!

I saw him about 15 yrs ago as a guest speaker at an NAPM meeting. He was working as a financial advisor. I think the NAPM folks figured he's speak mostly about business, but it was mostly about his career in baseball & then finance afterwards. He was a real gentlemen, very genuine & sincere. Sympathies for his family & friends.

A World Champion and a truly great person. Although his untimely passing is not a complete surprise to us, nonetheless it hurts so much to lose a hero.
