    Default Mayor of Detroit Mike Duggan's Progress.

    Well folks its been a year after Mike Duggan was inaugurated Mayor of Detroit. The results under his leadership is outstanding. Here are some improvent he's done to Detroit and its ghetto hoods.

    1. Installed new L.E.D. street lighting to most Detroit ghetto hoods.

    2. Institute task force with the Detroit Police Dept. to slow down crime.

    3. Institute task force to deal with the homeless.

    4. Having some vacant homes torn down.

    5. Overseeing regional building and job creation in Gilberttown to Midtown Detroit.

    What other progress that did for Detroit?

    1. Still dark even with new lights residential streets [[maybe darker)

    2.Crime still no where near under control no real help for the police

    3.No noticeable reduction in homelessness

    4.Lots of perfectly good rebuildable home's torn down never to be rebuilt.

    5.Helping Gilbert take over Downtown [[not necessarily a bad thing)

    The biggest thing I think they can do is start giving these run down homes away for free with the requirement they be be brought up to code within 1 year legally ie permits and inspections. Dump the back taxes and water bills give people a clean slate for one year.

    Danny,
    Mayor Mike has done a lot I agree but you have to remember he hasn't had control of the city until the later part of 2014 because of the Emergency Manager. Those who criticize what progress he has made in a short period of time need to be reminded of this.

    He inherited a patient where all that was left was the funeral. From this point, he has managed to show good progress on problems which were decades and generations in the making.

    People should be grateful for the progress and the sense of hope he has restored to the city of Detroit - a city written off by most.

    At least Duggan not a cussing fool like Coleman A Young, A urban regional sell-out like Dennis Archer, A pimp who parties like Kwame Kilpatrick and lame duck municipal estate sale sell outs like Ken Cockerel and Dave Bing.

    No Bad press from him, yet.

    Has not collected the remaining $78,484 from Christine Beatty, she hasn’t made a $500 payment to the city since Jan. 16, 2014......

    While I'm not in the city proper anymore, I do know folks who are who tell me they are glad their garbage, including bulk items, are getting picked up on a regular basis.

    Don't expect immediate gratification after decades of decay.

    I'm less interested in these benchmarks than I am in whether Duggan's building a good climate for business growth.

    Policing -> better
    Streetlights -> better
    Public Transit -> better
    City Hall [[handle basic issues of citizens and business) -> better
    Education -> better

    IMO, he's basically done almost everything right since he's been in office. Trash is getting picked up, crime is down, murder rate is down, investments in Detroit are skyhigh right now, he's tearing down shit houses and buildings, and most of all, he's working with and cooperating with city council. It's not a freakshow anymore in there [[at least publically). He's done a hell of a job in there so far, even if some people are pissed they haven't had their streetlight fixed yet. It's a work in progress. Please remember that.
