    That's their Denver location
"Punch Bowl – Social Food & Drink [[PBS) is a 24,000 sq ft high-volume bar, gastro-diner, coffee house, entertainment and private party venue. Featuring:8 bowling lanes, ping pong, marbles tables, deck-shuffle, shuffleboard, darts, pinball, foosball, pool, board games and a wall of throwback 1980’s video games. At PBS, if you can do it over a beer, we’ve got it. PBS is an environmentally focused concept. Draft beer and cans only and all 8 wines are served by keg service."

What is PBS? Usually this is a stock exchange abrreviation. Looked it up on the boards and got "PowerShares Dynamic Media [[PBS)" and the company is talking about ETFs and media in their press releases.

Ahh got it now, the Social is part of the name. Here is are more examples of the recently opened place in Denver mentioned earlier. http://pdx.eater.com/archives/2013/0...l-now-open.php

Too trendy for my tastes, but not a bad addition. If the food is good, I'll go.

I've been to the Dave and Buster's on Hall Rd. in Macomb Twp. It's like going to a gambling casino for non-gamblers... all indoor sports, drinks, and lots of party rooms for private engagements and birthday parties.

Something for everyone, as far as entertainment goes...

Isn't that the Chuck E. Cheese concept?

Z-site seems a little small for that, no?

Yup....but for adults. they limit the number of minors per adult and IIRC it goes to 21& up in the evenings.

so their other two locations I believe are 25,000 - 32,000 SF

the Z has TOTAL retail SF of 33,000.. that's between both of the 'zags' though.. so realistically you're right the biggest space they could take [[by taking and entire half of the Z) would be just under 17,000... that's still pretty damn massive for a bar/restaurant...

the D&Bs in Utica is 55,000 and the Livonia one is 40,000. So apparently there is a market for places like this. Remains to be seen if downtown detroit can support it. The Livonia D&B has had to institute all sorts of security and strict dress codes to keep gang violence under control.

Gang problems in Livonia, whooda thunk it? I'm sure glad they opted out of mass transit. We certainly don't want those types coming into Detroit.

Yeah, I don't think it's a viable location for an enterprise like this. Makes me wonder what other options there might be in the area that could house something like this though.

I would think that the Old Kresge's could fit the bill with it taking most of the basement, first and second floors.

The real rough gangs come from across the freeway... That is Northville ya know! Come in on horses I hear. Real Liberty Valance stuff.

Livonia isn't exactly prosperous these days. The east end, near Redford and Detroit, is visibly struggling. Plymouth Rd. looks pretty bad.

Anyways, if this opens, hopefully the crowd is slightly less idiotic than at D&B, both locations of which are known for fights.

if it's amenable to the company, bring it on. I haven't been to D&B's for years. Largely because I don't feel like making the trek from Det. to Utica just to go there [[do they still have Ms. Pac Man?)

While this is not the kind of place I frequent, I think downtown would benefit from it. It can be a destination for some people, and also be a place kill time before or after a game.

I think it would be cool to see something like this in that site, but arcades, like casinos, usually don't have windows. The Kresge building has wide open windows IIRC. If it does go downtown it'll probably go inside something that's sealed up like a basement... or maybe an old theater.

Here is a similar concept in Cleveland in an old Dime Store. It is a great space and draws a big crowd: http://www.thecorneralley.com/photo-tour/

They could put the restaurant out in front by the windows and have the gaming area behind and below or something.

National Theater? Would fit in Gilbert's so-called "entertainment district" on Monroe between Greektown and Campus Martius

Are those actual windows? Been a while since I've been to a D&B, but I don't recall being able to see outside from inside.

Yes, they are real windows, I remember being inside and looking out.

Spartan... love your idea... even if the theatre itself did not survive, the entrance and Pewabic lined storm lobby would make a grand entranceway to a game and entertainment center.

Default Punch Bowl Social on Broadway Nears Dec. 10 Opening in the Z

I captured these window-peeker images tonight of the soon-to-open Punch Bowl Social bar/adult playscape located in the ground floor retail space of the Z garage on Broadway.

There were a number of people inside such that I thought they may be having a soft opening. One, who happened to be a sales staff member, came to the door and explained that the official opening was Dec. 10 but they would be having a number of private events leading up to and following launch.

This shortened bowling alley first caught my eye. A dart board area is nearby.

Moving south there is an adjacent space with this large round bar. Further south is another bar and restaurant seating area.

On the exterior their sign is now emblazoned on the Z.

This is sure to add a lot of visual activity to the street with its large windows. And meanwhile, down the street, Guns and Butter in the Cary is also progressing.
