Default Can riverfront hotel become resort within Detroit?

Sounds like the man has a "vision"...

"Michael Roberts had already enjoyed a long career in his native St. Louis before he bought the defunct Omni Hotel on Detroit's east riverfront in 2010.
Since then, Roberts has poured about $5 million into renovating what everyone agrees ought to be a jewel, a historic Parke-Davis pharmaceutical laboratory building transformed 25 years ago into a boutique inn as part of the Stroh River Place complex.
Omni and other previous owners couldn't make money there for a variety of reasons, including a location some thought of as too remote from downtown. The 106-room hotel was closed when Roberts bought it".

Putting in an outdoor pool is great. It gives people like myself who stay out in the burbs in the summer while attending Tiger games a reason to stay downtown. Also, they need to provide quality, reliable shuttle service and they need a good mid-level brand like a Hampton Inn. It's going to take a lot more investment and is still somewhat risky when there are so few corporations close by.

Maybe with a marina and accessible by yacht only with a private Monte Carlo style Casino/ Bed & Breakfast for the whales.

I'm so glad that they're tearing down that awful addition on the side. I looked at that place for my wedding reception and as soon as I saw that white barn monstrosity, I was out. The hotel itself was beautiful.

I stayed at his hotel and it was very very nice. They have HUGE rooms and the rate was right.
He also rents out the rooms monthly.

It is seriously a nice place with a great venue and a great 4 seasons view. I wish him the best and hope he pulls it off.

It would be nice if the road down to the hotel was re-paved. The last two blocks are AWFUL.
