Default A question in concerns to the Woolworth's Downtown Detroit location.

Would anyone know the date that the doors closed on the downtown Detroit location of Woolworths as seen in the back in the day Hudson Thanksgiving Parade photo?
Thank you for any reply[[s), and have a very Happy Thanksgiving.Name: Woolworths Downtown Detroit.jpg

Ahhh, what a happy memory, got tossed out of that store in 1969 on suspicion of trying to boost Hot Wheels cars.

That photo is from after the "malling" of Woodward in 1976 [[note the brick paving surface). And, obviously, sometime before the closing of Woolworth's in 1985. If memory serves, the big balloons first came into the parade around 1980, after Hudson's stopped running the parade and the parade route had been shortened, thus avoiding all the overhead lines on Woodward.

Ummm...the streetcars were already long gone by 1980 and no span-wire traffic lights would appear anywhere on Woodward along the parade route for about another 20 years.
