    Default Christmas Tree Lighting in Campus Martius Friday, Nov. 21

    The Christmas Tree on Campus Martius has a partial after-dark light-up during preparations for the Friday Nov. 21 official lighting ceremonies in Downtown Detroit. The ice skating rink is will also open that night and the holiday season will go into full swing as thousands gather for the lighting.

    Who's going?



    By daylight the tree-trimming continues....

    5 PM - Midnight

    OFFICIAL RINK SEASON OPENING!

    Tree lights at approximately 7:45 PM

    So who's bankrolling this event in light of the bankruptcy issues?

    What does the bankruptcy have to do with the lighting? The park has been run by a non profit since it was created.

    even if it was the city [[which it's not as MSUguy said).. it would actually be a good investment. You know how many people in recent years have come down just to dinner then skate, etc.? I see pictures uploaded by multiple people EVERYDAY on social media from the time it's open until after it shuts down. And these are not detroiters, they're suburb dwellers who otherwise don't make a trip downtown unless it's a sports game
