See how the Society restored this landmark home with reproductions of wall paper from 1850 and 1910. Walk on the original floors where Fr. Gabriel Richard was said to have performed Mass in the parlor. Learn how the Ribbon Farms and windmills dotted the landscape along Lake St. Claire in the early 1800's. Get acquainted with Pierre, his wife Euphemia [[St. Aubin), their daughter Katherine and their many adopted children. Find out how and why home owner John La Belle moved the house in C. 1914 from Provencal and Lakeshore Roads to its present location. Stop and see an original log cabin dating C.1840 carefully reconstructed and restored by the Society. See what it was like to live in a home 11’ x 14’, without running water, plumbing, central heating or electricity. Visit the One-Room School set up for student field trips and stop by La Belle's Country store for our Pewabic tile, historical books, vintage toys, homemade soaps, handmade baby blankets, and our stuffed mascot," Peanut" the squirrel. 20. Party with a Purpose, as Charlie LeDuff heads up a multi-alarm Chili Cookoff to benefit Detroit Firefighters, ending with the always dazzling Howling Diablos...at the Corktown Tavern.

Oh, wait...that was yesterday afternoon.

What an incredible time...they rocketed past their goal of $20k by FIVE TIMES, in addition to filling a bucket for the f'fighter injured in that 4-story jump last month.

I cannot find the words to describe what it felt like being in a crowded tent with heroes from every suburb, including Windsor! We met so many amazing folks, and ended up hanging with the host as the party wandered down to Casey's Pub.

I now know a bit of why LeDuff gets in scuffles, but from now on if I ever catch him in one, I'm going to have his back. He is the real deal.

I hit Cafe D'Mongo's, Downtown Louie's Lounge, and Wright and Co. this past weekend. All of them were awesome in their own ways and I highly recommend them. I think D'Mongo's is my new favorite bar downtown.
