Fire balloons over Detroit headed northeast

What are about 50 balloons over head just now 7PM over east side of Detroit? They had fire in them and were moving very fast!

I saw them back in August around Mack and Connor; a group of bikers were sending them off.

I'm assuming these are the Chinese lanterns that people set off. A growing trend has been to set these off at weddings, which could be a cause for so many of them at one time.

These were kind of cute for a minute but now it seems every event needs to do a launch. What I find objectionable is the littering. "We're so happy we are going to celebrate with sky lanterns. Thanks for picking up our party trash whoever's property they fall on."
