    Default Excited about Detroit's Future!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am so excited about Detroit's future!

    because...

1.) Cobo finally passed the city council
2.) Light rail will be here in the next 6yrs or earlier!!!
3.) New Hotels that recently opened up
4.) Quicken planning to build HQ in 2013
    5.) Possible New Arena
    6.) Capitol Park renovations
7.) More restaurants coming downtown and Woodward Ave
    8.) Port Authority terminal finishing
    9.) Riverwalk West being constructed
    10. MCS cleanup
    11. Dequindre Cut being extended
    12. Eastern Market improvements
    13. Tri-Centennial Park being completed
    14. Once the economy improves more Condo's coming online.
    15. Belle Isle Aquarium hopefully opening to the public soon
    16. any many more!

Some might think of this as a useless thread, but I think its good for many Detroiters and Metro Detroiters to realize that the city will improve so much more by 2015.

Don't forget the huge film industry down here promoting the city and the new studio that opened up in the old section of the MGM Grand. I feel this city will turn around for the better too.

    I, too, am optimistic.

But, I haven't seen any news about the studio in the former MGM Grand Casino since February, and I've been looking regularly. Anyone have any news? It would be nice to see progress on such a visible building as you enter downtown [[from the west, anyhow).

I did not even hear of the MCS clean up till I saw a lady wearing a t-shirt with an image of the station at the restaurant I work at. When I asked her about it, she told me about how hot she was a volunteer for the clean up. It was the first bit of good news I heard in a while!

Yes, there are lots of good things happening in Detroit. I think we haven't been hearing as much of it do the fact that bad news has been selling so much more this past year given the events that took place.

Anyhow, I look forward to the Kresge building reopening!

Also, no matter what the news says or what the economic outlook is on Detroit....

Detroit still had a marvelous past when it was the Envy of America! And no one can take that past away from Detroit. So be proud to live in Detroit!!
