Default SMART just received three more hybrid buses!

Today, SMART has added three brand-new hybrid buses to it's fleet. One of them, #3009, is painted in U-M colors and was sighted this morning at the Oakland Terminal. These buses are identical to the three that were delivered last year and the initial three that arrived in 2011. First heard about this on another forum I'm on.

And in other SMART news, Lathrup Village is now an opt-in community again as of October 13th.

Now Livonia, Novi, Canton, Plymouth, Northville and Bloomfield Hills. Opt in the Smart Buses.

Add Woodhaven, Flat Rock, Brownstown and Gibraltar to the list.

In other news, one of the 2010 articulated hybrids made surprise visit Downriver today after spending four years in the northern suburbs. Maybe this is due to the ongoing comeback of Downriver in recent years similar to the recent comeback of downtown Detroit and nearby areas? Or maybe this is due to the recent rise in flights serving Metro Airport and the increased passengers that are resulting from that?
