Default Who are the best local music photographers ? Favorites ?

Hey, who do you think are the best local music photographers ? Or your favorite ?

I will start with four that I really love. First off is Ken Settle. His work goes way back, and if you don't recognize SOMEBODY in one of his photos, you been hiding under a rock for decades. Images of some of the all time greats, but there is something about Ken's pics beyond just marveling at who the subject is.

    Here is his Facebook page:

Another guy who is really good: Fuzzy Dave - also some impressive folks he shoots, but absolutely kick ass photos. Fuzzy is one of the main guys who inspired me to get started in photography back in the old days.

Next one is not so much an over all music photographer, but she did a recent shoot for Ryan Adams and his band that totally slayed me. She also documents an endless stream of musicians which in itself is a great body of work. [[her fashion stuff is killer) Megan McIssac is originally from this area but now lives on the west coast. Take a good look at her photos, they are solid. Real photography, film only, no digital, no manipulation. Just a great eye, technical skills, interpersonal charm and very very hard work.

Nicole Rork is similar to Megan, in that she ranges far from just music and musicians - but her concert photos are badass. If I could be a real photographer, I think I would want Nicole's magic powers because she is just so damn good.

I'd say it's a Mexican Standoff between Joe Gall and Doug Coombe.

If you go to FLICKR, and key in the name of just about any musician, you will be surprised by the outstanding number of non-professional photographers have taken so many stunning pics of music artists.

Fuzzy Dave is great. Known him for many years. He is a true music lover and shoots concerts and festivals all over the country. If it wasnt for him I would probably never found the Grateful Dead and did the many shows together over the years. Name: fuzzy greg allman.jpg

I was really shocked Joe Gall didn't make the initial list... He's hands down my favorite out of the bunch, he mixes between great party shots and very beautifully composed action shots of the artists performing.

in today's everybody's-taking-cell-photos era, how do you get famous/well-compensated as a popular-music photographer?
