Default Wright Kay building facade restoration?

The granite slabs from the Wright Kay remodel are being removed, rather carefully, it appears, revealing nothing of the original storefronts save the hugh.cast iron columns and some brickwork. This was a quality remodel job probably dating from the mid to late 1950's. May not have been the first extensive remodel.

The Wright Kay bldg. main floor facade on the both the Woodward and John R sides has been strpped revealing the massive cast iron columns and some crescent shaped cast iron arches on either side of the man entrance, center bay, Woodward ad first bay on John R. All the framing and display windows from the Wright Kay era have been demolished and bracing for the granite panels removed from the cast iron columns. It will be interesing to watch as the work continues.

Perhaps it was mentioned in another thread [[my time here is not as robust as it once was) but I have been wondering for a while what became of the acid etched WK logo window panes from the upper floors. High efficiency windows have been there for several months at least. I would hate to think they ended up in a dumpster....

The work continues...looks like it is going to be a recreation of the original full length mann floor dislaywindows set between the cast iron columns and main entrance...

SpartanDawg posted this link on the John Varvatos thread. It's got some pics of the restoration.
