Default Detroitography - Interesting Detroit Mapping Collective

I came across the enjoyable DETROITograhpy site while viewing the graphic below in a WDET blog post entitled "Why Do Hamtramck And Highland Park Exist Inside The City Of Detroit?"

Their aboutus reads: Detroit Cartography/Geography = DETROITography – we are all about maps and geography of Detroit. We like to write about maps that other people make about the City as well as create our own maps of Detroit.

In particular this animated gif of the growth of the City of Detroit caught my eye.

I've always been a big fan of maps. The older the better.

Most animated GIFs are just cute. That one is informative.

    Definitely worth bookmarking.

Too bad it stopped in 1926. Detroit could'a had the rest of Redford, all of Livonia, and if they were really daring, gone into Oakland county and grabbed off Southfield and Warren townships, and......well, never mind.
