    It’s back. A week’s worth of excuses to eat and drink your way through some of the best stuff the city has to offer. Participating restaurants aren’t locked in just yet, but keep an eye out because they’re going to pop up quick.

    You can celebrate Oktoberfest with the Detroit Experience Factory as they lead a special drinking tour to Detroit Beer Company, Grand Trunk Pub, andJacoby’s German Biergarten, where you can fill up on beer, sausage, and more beer.

    Beer, burgers, wine, Spanish tapas, ramen... these are just a few of the things to enjoy during Dine Drink Detroit -- a celebration of Detroit’s budding restaurant culture and the tasty things that it produces. All week long, each participating restaurant is offering up one specialty item for $15.

    Redford Theatre screenings [[All October long)
    The Redford Theatre has good Halloween fun all October long, from the Three Stooges Film Festival Oct 10-11, to a showing of the originalPhantom of the Opera with live music Oct 17-18. There will also be a special tribute to beloved vampire Sir Graves Ghastly, along with a showing of theWolf Man Oct 24-25.

    There’re just too many haunted houses, parties, and Halloween thrills in the Detroit area to include on a list like this, but if we’re going to choose one Halloween highlight, it’s Theatre Bizarre. The annual masquerade party is a Detroit staple, and if you haven’t been yet, make this the year.

    Detroit Fall Beer Festival [[Oct 24-25)
    Fall is a glorious time for beer in the mitten, and the annual Detroit Fall Beer Festival is a major highlight. This year boasts over 450 craft beers from 60 Michigan breweries, and aside from the booze, Eastern Market will also be teeming with plenty of local eats and music.

    Thanksgiving Day Parade
    It’s a Detroit tradition that marks the end of fall and the onset of winter. This year, the grand marshals of the parade will be Olympians Meryl Davis and Charlie White. And don’t forget the Turkey Trot, which includes an after-race party this year in the Cobo Atrium.

    Great post and info. Lowell. seriously ..........When I grew up in Brightmoor we burned leaves at the curb and it smelled like Fall. Now they burn the houses.

    In the distant past, we burned autumn leaves at the curb and toasted marshmallows and hot dogs. Somehow, the insecticides, refined sugar, and whatever nastiness was in those tube steaks didn't kill us.
    Now, we are looking forward to the Dine Drink Detroit event.
