    This PBS documentary focuses on the Pruitt - Igoe federal housing project, its origins and decline, tied into the history of St. Louis and its metropolitan area.

    Considering the still-ongoing tear-down of the Brewster Projects downtown, this has a lot of parallel resonance for Detroit.

    The takeaway message for me was that it failed because all funds were allocated for construction and no funds were allocated for maintenance. Is that correct?

    Without maintenance, it seemed as if designed to fail inevitably.
