DETROIT [[WJBK) - "I happen to like the officer, but, if she broke the law and the prosecutor deems that there's enough evidence there to charge her, I'll support the prosecutor," says Detroit Police Assistant Chief Steve Dolunt.

He is not at all sugar coating the accusations surrounding Officer Deloma Stone about what was said to have happened at Sunday around 6 p.m.

"Got a 911 call of a disturbance, officers responded," says Dolunt.

Nobody in the east-side neighborhood wanted to go on camera but they say it was a lot of commotion on Carlisle.

"[Saw] a female that they believed was breaking into a home. Turns out it was one of our officers. She was taken into custody," says Dolunt.

Witnesses tell Fox 2 the lady was hollering and hurling bricks at a pickup truck. Dolunt says a brick allegedly went through one of the windows.

"She has her department weapon in her possession," says Dolunt. Police sources say the smell of alcohol was present, too.

"If it's alcohol related, we would refer to the employee assistance program," says Dolunt, where she would be afforded the treatment for counseling and/or treatment. Dolunt says after the determination of charges the department will also conduct an internal investigation.

"No one should be carrying a weapon when they're intoxicated. I don't care if you're a police officer or a citizen. Bad things happen," says Dolunt.

The officer has not been charged but spent the night at the Detroit Detention Center.

She has been with DPD for about 15 years. She is in the fiscal management department. In other words she deals with people's paychecks, and she may be a familiar face to some of you.

"She's had some other incidents she's been involved in. One was a very traumatic experience for her," says Dolunt.

A few years ago Fox 2 found out Officer Stone was forced to fire her gun to defend herself and her property when two men broke into her then Eastpointe home. One of the suspects took a bullet. Officer Stone was never charged.

And in 2012 a Detroit police commander was being investigated by internal affairs and Officer Stone was in the middle of it. There were claims that the two were in involved in two different domestic disputes but both individuals denied any wrong doing, although the commander was demoted.

But as far what may have happened this past Sunday, Dolunt says, "Sounds like she had an argument with an acquaintance and she may have lost her temper, but she should be treated the same as any other citizen," he says.

Officer Stone was released pending investigation, just like anyone else facing a misdemeanor charge. Her status on the force is also pending at this time.

The owner of the pickup truck did not want to speak with Fox 2.

Is there a systemic problem with DPD female officers dating their Supervisors? Is is that we make it a big deal because of the media coverage? We all remember the officer who posted her pic online with her gun in her mouth because her boyfriend, then Chief Godbee was out of town with another female officer? I guess this is why a lot of police agencies discourage dating between officers & supervisors?
