A case could be made for blaming Russians, Ukrainians, Russian separatists, Malaysian Airlines, and even the US. It was a Russian made rocket, Russian separatists may have fired the rocket without knowing it was an airliner, Ukrainians owned some of these and might have done the same, and the CIA might have helped overthrow Ukraine's elected leader leading to anarchy and an opening for Putin to squeeze in. Some of the new Ukrainian leaders have a shady past too. What was that plane even flying over a war zone for anyway? Other airline companies diverted their flights away from Eastern Ukraine.

It is a situation that I don't think we can place blame on anyone until we have more information. Jumping to a conclusion at this point seems a bit irrational. Let it play out. There are multiple possibilities of what might have happened.
