Lots of parking on Woodward right in front of that and the DIA. Also, you can usually sneak a spot on the street between it and the DHS museum just north of it.

There is a lot across street at Putnam and Cass. Its a little pricey but its close and off the street. Also on Saturdays the Library's lot on Putnam is open to the public.

For longer research trips, I use the Detroit Historical Museum's lot. Last time I did, I just pulled up, told them over the intercom I wanted to park there, walked over, paid $5, and was there all day.

John R. above Kirby is, I believe, unmetered. Use it all the time for free parking for DIA. 3-minute walk to DPL Main.
