Thread: World Cup 2014

    Default World Cup 2014

We are a week away from the big dance. Does the USA team have any chance in a group with Germany and Portugal? And Ghana will be no pushover. Did Klinsman make the right decision cutting Donovan? Can anybody beat Brazil on their home turf? It's gonna be fun. Fire Up!

    a) US v Portugal & Germany? no
    b) Donovan wouldn't make a difference - especially at this level
    c) Spain, Argentina, Germany all have a good chance. So does Portugal. those are the other teams in FIFA's top 5 ratings. It would be a major bummer for Brazil if Portugal won.

    "Soccer touches some universal chord.

It's a simple sport that transcends language, that spans the world in a way that very few other human activities have. FIFA, soccer's global governing body, estimates that 3.2 billion people — roughly half the world's population — tuned in at some point to watch the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. This year the audience is expected to be even larger."

Wish we would have a central location like Hart Plaza or Campus Martius to watch the USA matches like other US cities. Really blew a win today with a costly turnover by Bradley with less than a minute to go. All he had to do was kick it down the field and we win. Instead he gives it away at midfield. He has to be better as he's one of our top guns. Can't complain though having 4 points and a decent chance to advance. So much for those FIFA ratings.

Wow, we advance from the Group of Death with a little help from our old pal Ronaldo. Germany really schooled us in the second half, can't see us going any farther. But its the World Cup, you gotta believe.

Our next opponent Belgium has shown no flash either but somehow won three and has allowed only one goal. The US did play its last two games without Altidore. He might liven things up for the US if he returns.

FIFA rankings: Germany 2, Belgium 11, US 13

Our problem was we had a German Manager who I think was a plant by Angela Merkel in retaliation for tapping her phone. He certainly looked the part but he vos vorking to orders. Well, either that, or we need better players.
