I bet you were thinking something different. I am only pointing this out as evidence that the culture of violence is growing and that even places like Chicago, which has been considered the Golden City of the Great Lakes for the last few decades is not immune from the violence bug.

Yes we have it bad, but so does everyone else. We need to expect more from not only ourselves, but of our leaders.

Although Chicago seems to be the shining city in the midwest, it has the same problems as Detroit. I feel safer in Chicago but I think that's because I'm more familiar with the areas of Chicago.
Chicago has some serious problems with shootings and murder that I really don't understand. Detroit seems to have more of a crime problem overall, and I'm not familiar with the exact statistics, but the murder rate and senseless shootings in Chicago seem to be over the top.

Gun control is a lot like abortion. It attacks results too late in the process. What we need is a lot more respect for each other, the building of self worth in individuals and early help for those who need it.

I love Chicago, but I have a tale that is so sad. No time for details but I had a boss whose husband was brutally murdered there. Details are a bit to gruesome to report.
