Default JoAnn Watson Believes She's Smarter than 6th Graders

Detroit students get earful after plea to save train depot

One of the slides of the kids' presentation stated that the City Council would be "wasting" $4 million to tear it down.

The usually blunt Watson didn't hold back with the kids, correcting them and their teachers several times that billionaire Manuel "Matty" Moroun -- not the City Council -- owned the 96-year-old structure. She told the kids they had gotten some bad information.

"The city doesn't own the train station," Watson said. "You are not listening to me. We don't own it."

The teachers told Watson the kids knew who the owner was but that they were petitioning City Council because members had voted to raze the building this spring. The Detroit City Council voted to raze the building and force Moroun to pay the $3.6 million cost. Moroun has opposed the move.

The council clowns are so out of touch with reality. These are 6th graders, not developers; why does she have to be such a negative b&tch to children? What is she trying to prove? Hopefully the unemployment rolls for former Detroit City Council members will include this buffoon.

Detroit needs to be in receivership if no other reason than to get these incompetent fools out of a decision making role.

She has got to go - she snarls at almost everyone, unless she can call them "Mother" and make snake eyes. The slip up on her taxes just proves that given the opportunity, she is as dishonest as they come.

I had the meeting livestreaming on one of my computers. Her behavior toward those children was horrible. She even tried to act as though City Council did not introduce and pass a resolution to tear the MCS down. Unfortunately, she's going to get back in.

I take great comfort in the probability that, even if she returns to council, the power she will wield will not be enough to light a lightbulb. Best case, she will not have the votes to influence policy in an insane manner as has been her bent lately. Worst case, there will be a recievership that will strip everyone of their decision making power. Either way.
