That's cool. Every halfway decent or better building along the Cass Corridor will be finding a better future, I think, in the years to come. Wish I owned one!

I'm not at all familiar with this building, but I was very impressed by the pictures in the News article.

in the mid 90s I attended a 14-week word processing/admin. assistant certification course there, co-sponsored by Detroit WorkForce Development and Wayne State. You had to be a high school graduate or GED holder, and unemployed. By the time my group 'graduated', there were maybe 16 women and 3 men who finished. I remember at the time there was also a charter school operating in one section of the building. It was my first experience interacting in that part of town. I remember heading down there and back home by bus every day, and getting approached by some of the local "characters" on an occasional basis. It was-- eye-opening lol

I was in there last fall. It's a beautiful building but could use some refreshing. Looks a bit tired inside in places.

It was also the last home of the Detroit Institute of Technology, beginning in 1971 when Kresge moved out to Troy. My cousin went to school there after he graduated from nearby Cass Tech, and one of my great-uncles graduated from there back in the days when it was run by the YMCA on Witherell and went on to be a naval aviation engineer in WWII and to help design fiberglass 'Vettes.

It was used as an annex in the 80s by Cass Tech. I was in the choir and we held classes there until the "new" Cass Tech annex was completed.

I wonder if anyone recalls the little hot dog stand/ restaurant at the northeast corner of the park. It was just across the street from the Masonic Temple.
