Fillmore ?

Daughter and two friends [[20 yr. olds) she went to high school with are going to Lorde's concert Sunday night at the Fillmore, [[general admission). She sings the Royals song. Show is sold out. They're being dropped off so no worries about parking. I've never been there so I have no clue about the place. I'm just a concerned mom about safety, crowd control, etc.

Msamslex... the Fillmore is Detroit's Rock Venue... but also pop shows. I had to look up Lorde... and I don't think your daughter has anything to worry about.

Live Nation, who leases out the Fillmore, does a stand up job of maintaining their venue, and keeping things under control.

Since you are unfamiliar with the former 3000 seat State Theatre... it is the only one of the major Detroit venues [[aside from Harpo's) that has a large dance floor. The theatre had the 1500 seat main floor seating removed 20 years ago, and replaced with 700 cabaret style seats terraced over several levels... bring the total venue seating down to 2200.

Didn't know all that, especially about the dance floor. I knew it used to be the State Theatre but I'd never been there either. Been to the
Fox many times though over the years.

I've seen many rock shows at the Fillmore and never seen any problems at all. It's a great venue. Considering the average person going to a Lorde show will probably be a teenage girl from the suburbs...I think she'll be fine.

.....tell them to stay on Woodward, in front of the Theatre, around other people. Don't go off somewhere to have fun unless they're in bunches. No one on one stuff...save that for home turf. While Detroit is getting better, it ain't there yet, and she IS a twenty year old girl....get my drift? Just be cautious is what I'm saying....and have a good time.

They have been told to stay together no matter what, whether going to the restroom, the souvenir stand, etc. One of the other kid's parent's [[mom and dad) dropped them off and will be hanging around downtown for dinner and maybe a movie at Ren Cen or casino. The dad works in the Ren Cen so they won't be far away. Daughter left her purse at home, only has her cash in her pocket and the kids have their phones.

You have to let them leave the nest sometime, but still you worry. My mother still gives me the third degree, [[did you eat?, you have gas in your car?, did you lock the doors?, etc.) and I'm no spring chicken!

I had to recall how we were in our 20's. A group of us used to ride out to Pine Knob, excuse me, DTE Energy Theatre. [[now I'm dating myself) for concerts. It will always be Pine Knob to us old folks!
