Default Valson Apartment Building, 4th street

    Hey,

I'm looking at moving to midtown this summer. I found this building of studios called the Valson building it's on 4th street.
I really like the character of the neighborhood.

I was wondering if any of you have lived there or know anyone else who's lived in the Valson Building.

If so what was your experience like, bedbugs, good staff etc.

I can't seem to find any reviews online for this building.

    -thank you

That's on one of the best blocks in the entire city of Detroit! Positively 4th Street.

I've never lived there, but I knew some people who did back about 30 years ago. It was funky to be sure, but cozy. I was envious of their groovy isolated little tight-knit community, and their big casement windows.

Alas, though, aren't they supposed to tear this building and this whole little piece of paradise down to build a magnificent extra large freeway ramp [[replacing the one that's already there) so people can rush right through our city even faster on the way to somewhere else?

Read old Detyes posts below #17, #18 etc. regarding some tells of the Valson of the late 70's early 80's. I had a friend that lived there during this time. Cute studios with the coolest kitchen nooks. Rent was dirt cheap then, about $140 or so. Can you imagine rent that low?

I lived on Fourth Street for about 20 years until the year 2000, and still maintain close ties with most of the residents over in that neighborhood. It IS a very nice community, with a few little parks, and the neighbors watch out for each other. Nice walking distance to Wayne State, CCS [[both locations), and the Culture District. I'm long time friends with the owners of the Valson, and they're good, fair landlords. The rent there however, has risen [[of course) since the testimonials given here. I believe it now to be $475.00mo. All utilities included. Worry free living. PS.....front apts. have nicer floor plan. The aerial view of the proposed expansion of I-94/M-10 exchange shows this bldg. NOT being affected or destroyed. Even IF this Expansion ever actually occurs.....it will be quite a few years down the road...so no REAL worries for renters there. Good luck, R.Jay. My advice to you would be.....DO IT !!!!!!!
