Default City's offer of healthcare to non-medicare retirees

Here it is. Pocket change. What a friggin' joke.

    COST For City's Insurance Plan
    Premiums for non-medicare eligible retirees.

The City gave us the follow MONTHLY premiums for their group insurance plan.
    Single person......$979.00 per month
    Two person........$2339.00 per month
    Family Coverage ...$2937.00 per month

We are unaware of any enrollments procedures that may be in place for acquiring this insurance.

    That is absolutely stunning, Ray.

There's no way in hell that anyone can afford these copays. None.

But didn't they say that non-medicare people had to go to the exchanges for their care? Are these quotes from healthcare.gov?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if your spouse worked, isn't a non medicare employee like yourself covered under their medicare coverage?

As I understand it, that was an offer by the city that they had arrived at with BC/BS of Michigan. I'm sure no one will take them up on it and go to obamacare instead. That or just say screw it, I'll take a chance on not getting sick.

Fortunately, the wife and I both qualify for Medicare. Nice being old for a change.

I know of a local company that pays about $850 a month for a single person for BCBS. They pay 50%. Their employees pay 50%. So these figures don't seem unreasonable. They're a little high, but that's probably Obamacare effect.
