No they are building a ramp and the train will jump from Campus Martius to Gratiot. :P
They have started building the station at the end of the line near my work, at the foot of Woodward. On the median at Woodward and Congress

Just a quick rant about the streetcar's nomenclature. I just saw on Metro Times' FB page that the "naming ceremony" was postponed. What kind of schitt is this? Is is that difficult to look at it say, let's use common sense and call this, the Woodward Tram, Woodward Streetcar, or the W Line. Obviously, with the RTA and hopefully bettering of DDOT this will be a handed over to a public authority. Do we really need a f@#$%&% name like a sports arena or Thanksgiving parade? We already sold out the stops, are we gonna sell out the bus routes too? This better not have any corporate name to it or... well else. I don't know I'm one person, but listening to the RTA, seeing their Facebook page, seeing M-1 Rail discussions, it's like ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Really, we're gonna look to Cleveland for transit advice? REALLY?!
I'm so happy we have an RTA, but they better not screw up the vote. And they seem to think having all these different agencies is a good thing. No, you cannot expect M-1 Rail to remain a separate agency. It has to fold into DDOT eventually.
Apparently a lot of possible names are being trademarked...

Excuse me while I bang my head against the wall.

For fuchs sake, this isn't RAPID transit. This is a TRAM, there's nothing "rocket" or high speed about it. Hell, despite the obvious corporate-ness of it, QLine or QLink sounds better! Though I would probably call it, CityLink or DLink.
A tram system doesn't need corporate branding. It needs a nice, logical name and colloquial nicknames will come out of that.
I just posted this on the M-1 Rail Discussion. Probably should be merged.
What the hell is wrong with calling it M1 Rail?
Does it really matter what they name it? I think most people will just call it the Woodward train.
I thought the DYes had already named it BlightRail
Let it develop a name organically. Users will end up calling it something with time, and it will probably stick. For right now, M-1 Rail works just fine.
IPS: Illitch Parking Shuttle.
I hear incoming.
Why don't they call it a streetcar, cause it's a, you know, streetcar.
Among other names they've registered:
Rocketrail, Q-link, Q-line, and Quickline
My preferred of the bunch is Q-line
At the end of the day this matters ZERO. as long as it works they can pay as much money as they want for the naming rights, hell if it allows M1 to expand in the future name it Dan Gilbertown shuttle express for all I care.
I just want some damn reliable public transportation options in the city core
Rocketrail is Gilbert’s idea…Dan, please don’t…
