Default Out on the Town: Drinking and Dining in Detroit - New exhibit at Historical Museum

Haven't seen this yet, but it looks like it will appeal to all the barflies and foodies on this site:

    Opening February 1, 2014 - January 2015

From prohibition-era speakeasies, working man’s watering holes of the 1930s/40s, jazz clubs of the 1940s/50s, nightclubs of the 1950s/60s and businessmen’s restaurants of the 1970s, this exhibit will highlight many unique venues that were, and -- in some cases -- continue to be, the places where relationships formed, deals were made and life happened.

A lot are still around, in particular the ones in the exhibit.

And I would say Detroit has easily become once again the drinking and dining destination of Metro Detroit, even if everything else is still screwed up about it. You don't hear about new places opening in Oakland County like you used to, and when they do it is with much less fanfare and excitement.

    Great exhibit, too.
